Hospital celebrates first COVID jabs

FRONTLINE workers at Frankston Hospital have begun to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.
Peninsula Health staff began to receive their first vaccine doses on 3 March. Nurse Vanessa Nolan said “it went absolutely fine, barely felt a thing.”
“It was a really simple and seamless process. I sat in the chair, signed a consent form, got the vaccination, sat down for about 15 minutes or so and then back off to work,” she said. “I’ve seen the effects of the virus on people and their families. I’m just doing my part to get vaccinated, not just to protect myself and my family from infection, but everyone else in the entire community.
Surf day gets go ahead

THE Disabled Surfers Association Mornington Peninsula branch heads back into the water at Point Leo on Saturday.
The event, which is expected to see hundreds of volunteers helping surfers enjoy their time in the waves, is the first for this year.
The January event was cancelled due to COVID-19 restrictions and Saturday’s day at the beach will include taking precautions with sanitisers available and equipment being frequently cleaned.
The number of people attending the event will fall safely within state government limits and there will be restrictions on crowding around the Point Leo Lifesaving Club.

Daniel Andrews has been placed in intensive care in hospital where he is expected to remain for the next few days after suffering a serious fall this morning.
The Victoria Premier issued a statement via his office this afternoon giving details of the accident and his condition. Early this morning, I was admitted to hospital after slipping and falling on wet and slippery stairs, Andrews said. A CT scan has revealed several broken ribs and vertebrae damage, and subsequent medical advice has recommended I remain in intensive care for the next few days.

An injured person has this morning been found inside a car that crashed down a bank in Pāpāmoa last night.
A police media spokeswoman said they were notified of the incident about 8.30am today, however the crash happened last night.

The car had gone down a bank off Bell Rd, near the boat ramp on the Kaituna River, on the west side of State Highway 2, she said.
